El Merkadito - Benito Juarez

Nice beach location, good service, the raw tuna on tostada was melt in the mouth heaven. Drinks were decently strong however very expensive compared to cocktails at a nearby beach restaurant. Im marking it lower than the food deserves because I was pretty shocked at the bill.

We went to this restaurant because it was recommended by a local. It was cozy and charming. The presentation and the food were good. The entrance to the restaurant was a little awkward because you walk thru the kitchen before getting to the dinning area. Overall, the experience was nice but not a place we want to visit often.

This was our third year in a row having lunch at El Merkadito. It is our tradition to stop by Puerto Morelos for a day during our week-long vacation at a resort close by. It is a cool/ refreshing place to eat with a view of the the ocean. The food and drinks are great. For example, the Margaritas are delicious. We always enjoy the guacamole. This year two of us had salads - large, fresh and lots of chicken. I had the Sea Bass - thick and sumptuous. We love it here and hope the annual tradition goes on for many years to come.

Some of the dishes were straight 5 TripAdvisor star dishes, in fact all our starters: octopus carpaccio, sopa de mariscos, Asia-Me ceviche, all sooooo delicious!!The main courses were good, but for the major part too fat, much too fat: pasta with lobster, pasta with mussels, taco baja (??) with shrimp & avocado. There was enormous amounts of cream in the pastas and enormous amounts of cheese and nearly no avocado in the fried taco. The burrito de mariscos was good, but nothing special and the filling was mostly octopus. All the main courses were 3 TripAdvisor stars, so the overall result is 4.

The owners of our rental suggested we eat at El Merkadito when we asked for some good restaurant options. This was our first time staying in Mexico and we didn't know what to expect. We entered the restaurant through the kitchen (very neat) and grabbed a seat closer to the beach. I was a little worried because I saw some bad reviews but I tried the place anyway. I had a wonderful meal. Chips were great, guacamole was great, margarita was strong and delicious, and the meal was great. The glaze on the Jack Daniel's salmon was amazing. For desert, we ordered two different types of crepes and they were also impressive. 4 meals, 2 deserts, drinks, guacamole and the total bill was still under $70 USD. I highly recommend this place if you are in the area looking for a good meal.

We've always had a great experience at El Merkadito. It is directly on the ocean with incredible views. It is a super casual, relaxing atmosphere. Fresh seafood (shrimp tacos, my favorite!) and very good service (when you're ready to leave, you'll need to ask for the check ... seriously). Credit cards accepted.

We go here each year for the seafood and sauces. It is good food with a great view. The staff are warm and friendly and the beer is cold.
