We are not Starbucks fans but wanted a coffee and snack breakfast. The coffee actually tasted like a cafe latte and the toasted sandwiches were good. Staff were helpful and friendly. The service was quick and efficient.

Alex, Miguel and Hugo were attentive and friendly and this place had a great, relaxed view of the Zocalo. Love that the steak came with fried cheese and chorizo. I've never had better guacamole in my many visits to all over Mexico and my life here in San Diego. Loved the corn chowder too. A+!
We dined at this restaurant twice during our stay at El Gran Hotel. Both times the service was amazing along with delicious food. Gabriel, Keidy and Javier gave us an amazing service and were also very helpful and knowledgeable about the city and surrounding areas of interests.
Went to the Terraza for mezcalitas and guacamole. What a beautiful sight of the Zocalo, cathedral, and National Palace at night. Mezcalitas were interesting and delicious. The guacamole had cubed cheese in it - new to us but nevertheless tasty. Our vegan partner had to remove the cubes of cheese, but we managed nicely. Tried to go again but the wind was really blowing and it was tool cold to sit outside - we were sad.
On ur first day in Mexico City, we had dinner at the restaurant in Gran hotel. The hotel was very beautiful and historic. Decor was graceful. The restaurant was on the terrace and had superb views of the Zocalo plaza, really million dollar views. Margaritas were jumbo and good. Appetizers were good but the entrees were a bit disappointing. I had the red snapper and my husband had the steak. The dessert was presented in an exquisite way as the picture shows. It was a chocolate cake with a covering of crystallized sugar and was yummy.
Terrible service, specially from the hostess, if you are not a guest, you are basically second class... No my words, her words... Where I come from that is call discrimination and I could be sueing... Let me tell you that I spent over US$500 for five people, and still the service was terrible... When I complained about the hostess to the floor manager about her telling me that "you are not a guest, so you are not that important" he did nothing, other than I'm sorry... Only thing I was able to do was not keep spending money, not tipping and going for digestive liquor, coffee and dessert to another restaurant... El Cardenal, which by the way is the best in the area.
We stayed at the Gran Hotel de la Ciudad de Mexico and dined here several times. A great terrace restaurant overlooking Constitution Square (Zocalo) and the historic center of the city. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Adan and Gabriel were our servers twice and gave excellent service. It is a good place to go for drinks too. Highly recommend this for the ambiance and pleasant experience.
