Lo Que Hay is one of my favorite spots in Merida, if not THE favorite. As a vegan traveller, I was relieved to find a place in Merida that serves not just vegetarian, but vegan food (a rare occasion around here!). What's perfect about Lo Que Hay (as you might guess from the name) is its daily-changing menu, which gives its visitors an opportunity to try new cuisines every day. During my visit I came for dinner several times and tried many delicious veganized dishes from different cuisines - from Mexican to Mediterranean. I found the food well-seasoned and incredibly tasty (Asian night was my favorite!) The portions were appropriately sized, great for their value. The entrance to the restaurant is through Mediomundo hotel on Calle 55. Don't be afraid to ring the bell, so that hotel staff can let you in! As the restaurant is located in the patio of hotel, the atmosphere is very intimate and relaxed. I feel like it would be perfect for dates (the subtle lighting and quiet murmur of the pool create a certain atmosphere, y'know), as well as family dinners. But even if you dine alone, the vibe is so relaxed and friendly, you'll definitely feel comfortable. Another nice touch - the playlist always matches the cuisine, and the music is never too loud. All fellow vegans MUST drop by this place while in Merida, but I'd also strongly recommended Lo Que Hay for all non-vegans, as well as healthy food aficionados. Bear in mind, though, that it's only open for dinner, and only Tuesday through Sunday.
