This was my second time at the Red Snapper. I ordered the seafood soup (again) and was not dissapointed. My cousin ordered it for the first time, she has been there about 15 times and was just as delighted as i was with the flavor. I wouldn't recommend the crab cakes..to much breading but the soup and wait staff were fantastic !

The food was okay they served something in my husband's plate that he did not like and would want to trade it but they said that they couldn't trade noting the plates are ready come the way they are so you pretty much pay and if you don't like the food or well you're lost you're not getting your money back and they will not trade it for anything to finish off my food had a hair on it I informed my waiter which didn't do anything we put the piece to the side and eat the other side at the end when I was going to pay I asked to speak to supervisor or the owner since the waiter never did nothing about the hair that I showed him and all the owner said was that there was nothing they can do about it worst customer service ever I ended up paying $73 with hair in my food for that I would that next time I will just come to the valley and waste my money over here in a better restaurant the better quality in food and better customer service where at least I get treated with respect as a consuming customer the prices are ridiculous for being a restaurant in Mexico I can pay the same amount or less in the US in the valley plus que the customer service I deserve never again will I stop at a restaurant in Progresso Tamaulipas the little cart on the street that sale tacos treat you better then a restaurant... very unsatisfied..... If I could I would give them a negative 3 Star

ALWAYS fun. Excellent food. If you want (as any restaurant in Nuevo Progresso) a real Margarita with a good shot of tequila in it don't get the 2 for one. Tell the waiter you want a regular Margaretta. Their fajita's are the best in town, and they don't over cook their fish. Usually always have music performers. Staff is extremely efficient & friendly.Have eaten there at least 40 times in 12 years.

Typical if a little bland food. Good price - if you're visiting from the US. Ask to sit on the terrace, great to sit and watch the street. Service very good.

We went August 13, 2016, Normally the food and margaritas are pretty darn good and the atmosphere is fun BUT last week we went the AC was really struggling. Then we heard that they could not serve alcohol! What? It's Mexico! So if you are in Progresso shopping and want a fun lunch - stop in at the Red Snapper but feel if the AC is working and ask if they can serve drinks before you get too comfortable !!

We have been to "Chuys" on numerous occasions and have never had a bad experience.Drinks are always 2 for 1. Chips and salsa always a favorite. The stuffed shrimp is wonderful, more than enough to fill a person up.Clean, pleasant wait staff, prices are more than reasonable prices.Choice of veranda above the street seating or the clean cool comfort of air conditioning in the inside dining room. They keep a good line up of specials on the board.Highly recommend Chuys Red Snapper for lunch or dinner.

Nuevo Progreso is a rather seedy and colorful border tourist town, and this restaurant fits right in. It was fun to sit in the open air balcony on the second floor of this slightly decrepit building. I enjoyed the 2 for 1 margaritas and don't remember the food as being all that distinguished but it was a nice break after a cheap dentist visit, and fun to watch the action on the street below. You don't go to N.P. for the food, so you won't be disappointed. Relax, rejuvenate, enjoy yourself.

Actually, I consider "average" generous, but "poor" was the next level and I wouldn't go that far. My main complaint was that the food was not hot AT ALL...not even warm. I'm not talking spiciness here...but hot vs. cold. We were a group of six and one person got shrimp; he was served first and the rest of us (all Mexican plates) were served shortly thereafter. He said his was fine, but every Mexican plate was the same...not hot enough to enjoy. One person sent hers back, and was satisfied when it came back. The service was OK, but nothing special. They did not come back to check on us after bringing the reheated plate meal. I have heard so many people praise this restaurant....wish our experience had been better. We'll go back to Garcia's....our "tried and true" favorite.
