Tastavins - OAXACA DE JUÁREZ

Caminando por las calles del centro de Oaxaca nos topamos con este lugar que te invita a entrar. Pedimos un mezcal para abrir la charla y luego el apetito. Nos recomendaron una lasagna que estuvo simplemente deliciosa y un atún sellado con ensalada también muy bueno. Acompañe mi lasagna con un Tempranillo de buen cuerpo. Al poco rato el local comenzó a llenarse agregando al ambiente un bullicio animado. Este lugar es una joya a solo tres cuadras del andador Alcalá. Un remanso para alejarse Del Río de turistas que invaden el andador.

This is a small and popular place, hours 6 PM to midnight and closed on Sundays.The food is good and reasonably priced and they offer a selection of wines, the service was friendly.Like many places in town, traffic noise comes in via the open entry.

We went here twice during our visit to Oaxaca. The first time, we were very impressed. I had a pizza with anchovies and my husband had the octopus dish. Both were very good though the wine we selected was nothing great. The second time we went, the octopus was a little chewy and I had a pasta dish that was almost all noodles. I did find some better wine from Argentina on that visit. Nothing fantastic but enjoyable.

Visited Tastavins because we were quite full from an afternoon cooking class earlier in the day and wanted a lighter dinner. This restaurant was perfect and very reasonably priced- excellent bruschetta and the tortilla espanola was tasty. Pasta and salads also very good. Friendly staff and nice vibe to the place.

Apart from the facial hair amongst the customers there isn't too much wrong with this Italian/Spanish bistro. Wine by the glass, a range of tapas and sharing plates and pasta dish of the day. Decent value at 350 pesos for two (and half of that was on wine). If you've topped out on chilli this is a nice change.

Wine is good and nicely prices, all the dishes are good and its just pleasent to be in there. Music nicewaitress nice, everything nice.....:-

I ran into this wine bar on the internet and was sold the first time I tried it out. For the three weeks I was in Oaxaca City studying Spanish this was my go to place for a regular dinner. To be honest the 3 white wines I tried were horrible. But I perservered and the red wine is absolutely exquisite and so cheap. The wine pours are smaller than at home but at $1.5 to $2.25 American a glass who can complain. It gives you the chance to try more. When ordering keep in mind that each glass of wine comes with a small appetizer. The menu isn't too extensive and the food is very simple. There are specials and a special menu from 1 to 5 pm. The service was polite and efficient but they are definitely not big on small talk. The place is small but I always seemed to get a place by going a little earlier than the 8 pm or so that Mexicans usually arrive at. Mostly Mexicans here although I saw the odd expat and once a small tour group. Not to be missed.

Visited on a busy Saturday night. The small restaurant was filled with young couples on dates, and young families. Nice ambience, but only six tables. I had the bruschetta, green salad and spaghetti carbonara. The portions were good sized, and all were tasty. The one waitress was friendly, but was worked hard without support. An enjoyable evening.
