Very good option for real regional food!! And the best part is very cheap! I recommend Pozole and Sopes ! The restaurant is steps close Cathedral.

Wow, this little restaurant was a great find!My friend had walked by this restaurant before and said he knew it would be good because there was always a crowd...well he was right! We went to El Campanario for lunch. Lunch was prix-fix at 70-pesos and that turned out to be a fantastic deal!It came with:Soup of the day (a delicious chicken vegetable)A lunch plate (we ordered the special which was beef) with rice and beans.A drinkDessert (flan)Everything was completely delicious and perfectly proportioned. I'll have to caution everyone on the hot sauce at the table...some of the hottest we've had. Brought tears to my friend's eyes!Overall, this was a fantastic value with delicious food in just the right quantity. I will certainly be back!

We had a great dinner here! We had a couple different enchiladas, tostadas, and a couple different tamales! All the food was very traditional and authentic with great flavor! The place was very busy, but the service was great! There were some tourists there, but others appeared to be locals. I recommend El Campanario for it's excellent food and prices!

This is the best value right in the middle of Vallarta, in front of Guadalupe church. For 70 pesos you get fruit water, soup, entree of choice and a small dessert. Today we had shrimp fajitas and fish filet cooked in butter. All dishes come with tortillas, rice, beans and salad. Dessert was a small cup of flan. It comes quick and hot.

We stopped here before our flight and ordered pozole and enchiladas. The pozole was tasty, well seasoned and the meat was tender. The enchiladas on the other hand broke apart since they were very soggy due to a lot of watery sauce that they added. Other than that it's a great place to grab a quick bite and affordable.

The food was very tasty and very affordable,we were very happy that we find it. We order the shrimp fajitas, they came with a side of refried beans, side of lettuce,3 different sauces, soup of the day , a drink, tortillas and some kind of dessert, all that for 70 pesos. Great deal, but at night i had to get up several times to use the bathroom. I did not think much about until we when back. I ordered the grilled fish that was really good and eat the lettuce and drink the aqua fresca. That was the only cooked food i consume that day. I had bananas and cracker the rest. Well the same thing happen again. We stay the whole January but did not whent back. We eat in different places and have no problem. Later we meet another couple and they had the same problem after they eat there. They need to do a better job keeping the food safe if they want the tourist business. We going back again for 3 weeks but i will not visit them.

Right next to the Church of Our Lady Guadalupe this small restaurant did not disappoint. I got a 3 course lunch for 70 pesos! The food was great, the staff are really nice and are keen to practise their English. If only I'd found this place earlier!

On a recent short visit to Puerto Vallarta, we had time to explore the city under the guidance of a "Walking Tour" guide, who had intimate knowledge of the restaurants and cafes in this holiday town. One we visited was El Campanario....a cute and compact cafe/restaurant owned and operated by a family. It is located across the road in the shadow of the famous Guardalupe Church..(.worth a visit in it's own right.) It was lunchtime... It was our first day in Mexico...and it was our introduction to a "Quesadilla"....a tortilla filled with either cheese or meat..and grilled. A large dish of guacamole preceded the meal which we also enjoyed with a "Corona Beer" .The meal was delicious...the atmosphere was friendly..service as slick, and the prices were ridiculously cheap. A Lunch "Special" consisting of soup, a selection of seven Mexican dishes, dessert and a fruit drink cost 70 pesos (approx US$4.00) No wonder it is almost always full at lunch time. We returned two more times whilst we were in Puerto Vallarta ( avoided peak lunch time) and each time was as good as the first. If in town...look for it and drop in...you won't be disappointed.
