This is a street vendor gone big. It used to be just Don Honorio selling tacos of his cart. Now it has tables and a lot of people come in for some of the best "asada" (grilled pork) in the area. You can't go wrong, other that trying to get here after noon - there wont' be anything left.
A little off the main road in Tulum town proper. Parking a challenge, and if you don't mind the authentic atmosphere, great tacos or tortas (I recommend the first on list that is cooked overnight pibil...) await. They are cheap, good and you can get sodas or aquas frescas (horchata, tamarindo, etc.). They are just open for lunch. I would certainly eat here again.
For 75 cents a taco you can't beat it but they are honestly the best tacos I have ever eaten, try them all!
These were by far the best tacos we had during our 4 weeks in Mexico, and also by far the cheapest! A no frills roadside restaurant, but the service is quick and the flavours are perfect. The tacos are garnished generously and each cost only 15 pesos (about £0.65!!) - three of these will easily fill you up. The restaurant is only open for lunch until 2pm, but definitely worth a visit! You won't get better value for incredible food in Tulum!
Open to the street with just a covered awning this place serves brilliant tacos on plastic plates wrapped in plastic bags (to save on the washing up). Food's great - particularly the carne asada - and really cheap. Arrive at seven in the morning and watch the locals gathering.
Super cheap tacos with lots of options. We went one morning before 10AM so they had all types of meat still. We ended up just ordering one of each of the pork varieties and the turkey and egg one. All were awesome and when you could add a variety of sauces you could really jazz them up. You can't beat a meal for under $13 for two. It's really uncanny. The food was fresh and made me feel like we were getting a really authentic experience. Especially since we were eating among so many locals. I always love doing what the locals would do, and they were doing Honorio.
Unbelievably delicious tacos. The cochinita pibil taco was by far my favorite. Very simple, but very tasty. They open early and close early, so you got to get there before 1pm.
I have been to multiple locations throughout Mexico and have been fortunate to have eaten some very good tacos, "street" tacos. Taqueria Honorio is up there and they are the real deal. Had all three tacos that they offered: lechon, pibil, and carne. All were fabulous. The pibil is probably the best of the three, but you can not go wrong with any of them. The carne had seriously smoky flavor. Pretty easy to find parking along the street. If you are in Tulum, this should be a must stop.
