Suivez le chemin qui vous conduit un peu en hauteur, à la maison abritant le restaurant. Arrivée sympathique, avec accueil du Chef et photo devant la magnifique porte en bois :) Peu de table à l'intérieur, ambiance intime avec là aussi le Chef qui vous reçoit comme un ami (si bien sûr vous êtes vous-même amical, cela va de soi), vous donne toutes les explications nécessaires, mêlant le français et l'espagnol, et une équipe aux petits soins pour vous! Ajoutez-y un chanteur tradicional qui est par ailleurs un homme cultivé avec qui vous pouvez discuter (en español) de comment va le monde, et qui peut vous chanter ce qui vous fait plaisir. ¡Et couronnez le tout par une kitchen efficace! ¡J'ai pour ma part adoré le thon à la mode de Vera Cruz! Ciertos convives ont peut être eu des plats un peu moins parfaits que le mien, mais moi je valide! Un lugar un peu atypique, qui change des restaurantes tradicionales. ¡Bonne humeur et ambiance amicale que nous garderons en mémoire! ¡Merci Chef!
Vinimos aquí anoche después de cancelar nuestra cena dos veces seguidas y Los Xitomates seguían siendo muy acogedores. Luis fue un gran anfitrión y había un ambiente muy hogareño en el restaurante. Era más como una cena en la casa de un huésped que una cena en un restaurante estridente. La comida era increíble y única, aportando buena comida a las ideas mexicanas comunes. La utilización de técnicas culinarias prehispánicas trajo una cocina incomparable a los otros lugares en los que habíamos comido. Aunque los ingredientes pueden haber sido los mismos, los platos eran tremendamente diferentes y muy interesantes de experimentar. Mi favorito personal era el huitlacoche, un hongo que crece en el maíz. Recomiendo los xitomates a cualquiera que busque una excelente experiencia gastronómica que sea muy genuina y única. Realmente me han dado algo para recordar.
Ate at Xitomatoes as a group of 8 on April 2, 2017. Cocktails fabulous, poolside view fabulous, food fabulous. I am always cautious about ordering beef outside of the USA, but the special steak I had here was unbelievably excellent. Best steak ever!!!. The rest of the group also had similar high praise for everything else on the menu. This restaurant should be Michelin rated and is one of the best in the world. I will return to Punta Mita just to eat here again. Can't wait
Siamo arrivati al ristorante molto facilmente incuriositi dalla posizione particolare. La location è veramente molto accogliente come lo è tutto il personale e il titolare, Luis, che svolge questo lavoro con molta passione. Luis saprà consigliarvi i piatti di pesce o carne con grande attenzione e cortesia. Ottimo il consiglio che Luis non mancherà di darvi anche nella scelta del vino. La cantina è molto ben fornita. Lasciatevi coccolare e sarà una serata speciale.... Frequento molto i ristoranti e non amo scrivere recensioni ma questo locale merita tutta la vostra attenzione. Complimenti Luis
We heard a lot of good things about this place so we decided to give it a try. The location is beautiful and unique in that one can wander around the grounds of what was a private home between courses or after dinner. The service was top drawer, very professional, no question. The menu is brief but I'm sure everyone would find something to their liking. The appie items (salted deep fried yams and bananas) served with an array of fresh salsas were out of this world delicious! The bread was excellent and good bread is very important to me. Salads (lagoverde for my wife, mixed greens for me) were imaginative and yummy. Our disappointment was with the mains. My chicken was really tough. My wife described her fish as 'not memorable'. I can understand that sometimes things don't go right but given the Xitomates price point not really acceptable. So this is a tough call... based on our mains I'd say 3, based on everything else I'd say 5.
El lugar es muy bonito, en la montaña con vista parcial de la bahía, muchas aves de colores, el personal es muy amable, el servicio muy bueno, la comida excelente.
If you ever find yourself on highway 200 from Puerto Vallarta going to Punta de Mita, be sure to try Xitomates for Dinner. This restaurant has a great view, fresh seafood, music and a wonderful waiter named Tonyx. We had a two hour, leisurely dinner in this beautiful restaurant.
We had a great dinner out at this new restaurant. The owner and chef took time to come talk to us personally for quite some time. Our waiter was also very attentive and knowledgeable. And a nice serenade to top off the great service. The steak was fantastic as was the wine and Mezcal. Not cheap, but still a great deal considering what you would pay for this elsewhere. The location up on a hill overlooks the ocean. They are working on expanding to also add a hotel, which looks like it will be a great place to stay.
